Karl Keil (politician)

Johann Karl Keil (born August 13, 1861 , † August 31, 1920 in Zwickau ) was a German politician .

From 1896 to 1898, Keil was a member of the Leipzig City Council. From 1898 he was the successor of Lothar Streit as Lord Mayor of the West Saxon city of Zwickau. At his request, Keil was retired on March 31, 1919. From 1899 to 1918 he was also the first magistrate of the city of Zwickau to be a member of the First Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament in the Kingdom of Saxony . Keil was a board member of the Kunstverein Zwickau and chaired the Zwickau honorary committee.

In 1919 he was made an honorary citizen by the city of Zwickau . In the city, Karl-Keil-Strasse commemorates him.
