Karl Kleiber
Karl Kleiber (born December 21, 1838 in Reiserhof near Grunddorf, municipality of Perschling ; † June 15, 1902 in Vienna ) was an Austrian composer and conductor who composed the music for numerous stage works at the Vienna Volkstheater.
Life
Kleiber completed his musical training with the composer Franz Krenn, among others . From 1861 he was the piano player in the Viennese folk singing society of Johann Fürst and Josef Matras and from 1862 Kapellmeister at the Fürst's Singspielhalle . There he wrote the music for almost all of the pieces listed there. His collaboration with the theater poets Alois Berla and Karl Bayer, of whom he musically framed over 50 folk plays, should be emphasized . After Fürst's death in 1882, he went on tour with his own company. Between 1883 and 1889 Karl Kleiber was Kapellmeister at the Theater in der Josefstadt , between 1889/90 at the Carltheater and from 1890 again at the Theater in der Josefstadt.
Karl Kleiber was married to the soubrette and actress Hermine Kirchhofer (born April 10, 1843 Vienna, † after 1891), who was engaged at the Fürsttheater from 1879 to 1892.
