Karl Ludwig Ernst von Sulz (born September 13, 1595 in Vaduz ; † April 16, 1648 in Amberg ) was the ruling landgrave in Klettgau from 1628 to 1648 and court judge at the court in Rottweil . In 1629/30 he was one of the imperial restitution commissioners in the Duchy of Württemberg who were supposed to enforce the edict of restitution by Emperor Ferdinand . In 1628 he took over the government of the Landgraviate of Klettgau from his brother Alwig , who devoted himself to his military career.

Marriage, offspring and origin

Karl Ludwig Ernst was the son of Karl Ludwig zu Sulz and Dorothea Katharina von Sayn (* 1562–1609). His first marriage was to Maximiliana von Sulz (1584–1623). In 1624 he married the second wife, Maria Elisabeth von Hohenzollern Sigmaringen (1592–1659), a daughter of Count Karl II. Von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen .

The information about the offspring is inconsistent. From his first marriage he had a son:

His successor, Johann Ludwig, emerged from the second marriage:

  • Maria Elisabeth (born June 18, 1625) ∞ Christoph Karl von Waldburg
  • Johann Ludwig II. (1626–1687) in Jestetten ; with him the Counts of Sulz died out in the male line
  • Christoph Alwig (born January 23, 1629 Tiengen ; † August 29, 1666 Jestetten ), canon in Strasbourg
  • Maria Katharina (* June 16, 1630; † November 2, 1686) ∞ Johann VII. Von Montfort-Tettnang
  • Maria Theresa (born September 21, 1634 - † August 18, 1692)

Other children did not reach adulthood.
