Karl Marx (politician)
Karl Marx (born February 24, 1844 in Frankfurt am Main ; † December 20, 1914 there ) was a German master butcher and local politician .
Career
Marx was born the son of a butcher in Frankfurt am Main. At the age of 14 he joined his father's business, which he took over in 1870. In 1886 he was elected to the board of the German Butchers' Association and was later its president until 1913. After leaving office, he was made honorary chairman.
From 1889 until his death in December 1914 he was a city councilor in Frankfurt, initially for the Democratic Party and from 1911 for the Progressive Party .
