Karl Renar

Karl Renar (born May 26, 1928 in Vienna , † January 22, 1991 in Munich ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

After finishing school he received acting lessons from Dorothea Neff . He took on his first theater roles in Vienna, followed by engagements at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and at the Stuttgart State Theater .

Since 1965 he was part of the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele . There he embodied Havlitschek in Tales from the Vienna Woods (1966), Etienne in Georges Feydeau's Der Floh im Ohr (1967), the Prime Minister in the premiere of Edward Bond's Narrow Path in the Deep North (1969), Pierrot in Dom Juan and Chaumet in Dantons Tod (1971/72), Dervisch in Nathan der Weise (1972), Edi in Gespenster (1973/74), Invalider in Glaube Liebe Hoffnung (1975), Executioner in Jean Genet's The Balcony and Sophie's Brother in Der Alpenkönig and the misanthropist (1976/77), Nagg in Endspiel and Saint George in Clavigo (1978/79), Georg von Waldstätten in Das Käthchen von Heilbronn (1979/80), court preacher in Leonce and Lena (1980/81), the second Feldherrn in Amphitryon (1982/83) and von Wolblitz in Ernst Toller's Der ungesselte Wotan (1983/84).

Renar also worked as an acting teacher and for the radio. In television, he was particularly seen in numerous crime series. He is buried in Munich in the New South Cemetery .
