Karl Rolf Seufert ( pseudonym : Charles Hallgarten ; born December 1, 1923 in Frankfurt am Main , † October 18, 1992 in Eltville am Rhein ) was a German writer .

Life

Karl Rolf Seufert studied German and history . After military service and imprisonment, he lived in Hallgarten in the Rheingau from 1945 until his death , where he was also buried. He worked as a teacher at the primary school in Oestrich . Seufert made extensive trips, especially to Africa and East Asia .

Karl Rolf Seufert's literary work includes numerous books for young people ; In addition to several historical novels , he wrote mainly cultural-historical non-fiction and narrative reports on explorers of the 19th and 20th centuries and their expeditions in Asia , Africa and America . Seufert also processed his own travels, especially those that took him to China in 1966 , in book form. Karl Rolf Seufert, whose works were on the shortlist for the German Youth Book Prize several times , received a. a. 1962 the Friedrich Gerstäcker Prize and 1974 the Kurt Lütgen Non-Fiction Prize .
