Life

family

He came from the Uettinger line of the Franconian noble family Wolffskeel and was the son of Friedrich Freiherr Wolfskeel von Reichenberg and his wife Karoline, nee Freiin von Städel. On October 26, 1872 he married Emma Freiin von Thüngen (1847–1929), with whom he had four children:

Career

Wolffskeel had been an officer in the Bavarian Army since June 18, 1866 and took part in the war against Prussia in the same year and in the war against France in 1870/71 . He served as wing adjutant to the then Prince and later Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria at the Munich royal court. In the further course of his military career he received the character of Lieutenant General on June 11, 1903 and was placed à la suite of the army.

He was chief stableman of the Marstall Munich and master hunter. He was responsible for the care of the Wittelsbach stud farms, the hunts, the care of the culture and the administration of the court treasury. In addition, he was a curator and asset manager for Otto von Bayern. Wolffskeel was considered a close friend and advisor to Luitpold of Bavaria. With the death of the Prince Regent , he resigned his posts as Oberststallmeister and Oberstjägermeister, and with the death of Otto von Bayern in 1916, he also resigned from his positions as curator and asset manager.

Honors

In 1901, on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, Wolffskeel was raised to the status of hereditary count due to his services to the person of the monarch. The increased rank was now indicated by a second "f" in the name, ie "Wolffskeel" instead of "Wolfskeel". He is thus the founder of the Count's line of the Wolffskeel family. The following year he was made a knight of the Order of Hubert . Wolffskeel had been the holder of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of St. Michael since 1894 and of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown since 1897 as well as other highest foreign orders and decorations .
