Karl von Kaltenborn-Stachau

Baron Karl (Carl) von Kaltenborn-Stachau (* July 21, 1817 in Halle a. S. , † April 19, 1866 in Kassel ) was an important teacher of constitutional law .

origin

His father was the Prussian captain Johann Karl von Kaltenborn-Stachau (* December 15, 1776, † February 14, 1857), his mother was his wife Therese Kitscher (* January 28, 1787). His sister Marie (born September 26, 1811) was with the imperial Brazilian personal physician Dr. Ludwig Ritter married.

Life

Kaltenborn-Stachau attended the various schools of the Francke Foundations and the university of his hometown Halle. At this he appeared in 1845 as a private lecturer . In 1850 he stayed in Hamburg for seven months to collect material for his main work: "Principles of the Practical European Law of the Sea" (Berlin 1851, 2 vol.) And to attend the sessions of the commercial court . In 1853 he received a call as associate professor for German and public law to Königsberg i. Pr. , There he was appointed full professor in 1861.

In 1864 he was appointed Legation Councilor as a consultant in the Hessian Ministry in Kassel, where he also died in 1866.

He married on April 11, 1854 in Hermine Gronau (* March 20, 1824), a daughter of the government councilor Wilhelm Gronau. The couple had several children:
