Karl von Rose

Karl Friedrich Georg von Rose (born April 15, 1863 in Döhlau in East Prussia , † April 9, 1945 in Sopot ) was a German administrative officer and manor owner.

Life

Karl von Rose was the son of the landowner Franz Rose (1854–1912), who was a patron of the artists Adolfo Wildt and Albert Welti ; the bust of Franz Roses created by Adolfo Wildt is still in the church of Döhlau, today Dylewo in Polish, Albert Weltli's portrait of Roses in his study in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC He studied law at the Georg August University in Göttingen . In 1883 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . After graduation, doctorate to Dr. jur. and legal clerkship he became a government assessor in the Prussian civil service, most recently with the government in Posen . In 1896 he became district administrator of the Schroda district . In 1909 he was promoted to senior councilor in the government in Bromberg . In March 1914 he resigned from civil service.

After his retirement from the Prussian civil service, von Rose lived as a majorate owner until his flight from East Prussia in 1945, where he died, on his manor Döhlau in the Osterode district in East Prussia . Together with his manor Bialokosch in the Birnbaum district , his property comprised 2,802 hectares. He took part in the First World War as a major in the reserve of the East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment No. 3 . The last command was the 3rd battalion of Landsturm Infantry Regiment No. 37. He was married to Sophie Freiin von Massenbach .

The art historian Hans Rose was a cousin and was portrayed in 1912 by the Swiss painter Fritz Pauli together with Franz Pauli in Döhlau.
