The Karli Naue Sextet , also known as Karli Naue Sextet, later Studio Sextet and Studio Formation , was a German dance music and jazz amateur band.
history
The founding members Karli Naue, Fred Klein, Horst Rittmeister, Hans-Georg Werner and Gerhard Werner had known each other since they were at school. After it was founded in Erfurt in 1952 , the Karli Naue Sextet was one of the most successful regional dance bands in the Erfurt district until the end of the 1960s . The highlights were the victories in the final as the best amateur band in the GDR in 1957 and 1959.
In addition to arranging popular hits and jazz classics, Karli Naue composed around 50 of his own pieces of music for his own and third-party radio productions. However, there were only a few tracks that were recorded on vinyl.
The musicians performed their programs in Erfurt as well as in other places in the GDR , for example as a "small cast" of the Thomas-Müntzer-Emsemble of the VEB Optima Erfurt , as a house band in various clubhouses in Erfurt and the surrounding area, e.g. B. City of Moscow culture and leisure center, Erfurt city garden, Erfurt energy club, “Stadt Berlin” restaurant , Weimarhalle u. a.
They played at events of the Erfurt concert and guest performance management , at events at the Traut Erfurt dance school, at major events at the IGA Erfurt , at stage balls at the Erfurt Theater and the like. a. In addition, Karli Naue performed as a soloist in the orchestras Bruno Droste , Dieter Brandt and Conrad Andre as a jazz pianist on radio recordings. In 1965 he initiated the “Jazz am Freitag” series of events in the Erfurt press club. After 1990 he played as a pianist in the formations "Saxtett Erfurt", "Jazzgilde Erfurt" and "Church Ramblers".
Since 1998 he has been the leader and keyboard player of the group "´Naue's House Band".
