from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Desi Tsangpa Karma Tenkyong Wangpo ( Tib . : Karma bstan skyong dbang po ; * 1605 ; † 1642 ; ruled 1621–1642) was the last ruler of the Karma government or Karma Kagyu government of the Tsangpa dynasty ( gTsang pa ) in 17th century Tibet . He ruled from 1621 to 1642. The rule of the rulers of Tsang - a time of the Karmapa hegemony - was the last Tibetan ruling dynasty to rule on its own.

The Tsangpa or Desi Tsangpa dynasty, founded by Shingshapa Tsheten Dorje ( zhing shag pa tshe brtan rdo rje ), ruled large parts of Tibet from 1565 to 1642 - including the area of Lhasa . Its capital, Samzhubzê (Tib. BSam grub rtse ; today's seat of government of the city of Xigazê ) was the political, economic and cultural center of Tibet.

In 1621, at the age of seventeen, Karma Tenkyong Wangpo succeeded his father Desi Tsangpa Karma Phüntshog Namgyel ( Sde srid Gtsang pa Phun tshogs rnam rgyal ).

He was a powerful supporter of the 10th Karmapa Chöying Dorje of the Karma Kagyu School and the arch enemy of the Gelug School, in particular the 5th Dalai Lama Ngawang Lobsang Gyatsho (1617-1682) and the 4th Penchen Lama Lobsang Chökyi Gyeltshen (1570 -1662).

1642 he was selected by Gushri Khan , leader of the khoshut - Mongols of Kokonor type region, defeated, captured and later killed.

The 5th Dalai Lama Ngawang Lobsang Gyatsho ascended his throne in Samzhubzê, which had been conquered with the help of the Mongols .

Quote

The historian Thuken Lobsang Chökyi Nyima (1737–1802) from the Gelug School reports the following in his work Crystal Mirror of the Philosophical Teaching Systems ( Grub mtha 'shel gyi me long ):

" At that time the king of dBus and gTsang was the sDe srid gTsang pa. As a master of the spiritual lords of gifts, he supported the Kar ma pa and adhered to them by exercising much rejection regarding the dGe lugs pa. This king [= Gushri Khan ], along with a large number of troops, entered dBus and gTsang and defeated the entire army of gTsang pa, captured the gTsang pa prince and his ministers and threw them into the prison in their hometown of Ne'u in dBus He brought all areas of dBus and gTsang under his power, became king of all three provinces of Tibet, and established the white umbrella of the law until completion as a government, and destroyed all people who had not been disciplined so that they were rejected by rejection who insulted dGe lugs pa.
