Kaspar Flütsch (born June 20, 1986 in Luzein ) is a Swiss snowboarder . He starts in the parallel disciplines.
Career
Flütsch, who starts for SC Pany, has been taking part in FIS competitions since 2002 . He made his debut in the World Cup in January 2006 in Nendaz , which he finished in 44th place in the parallel slalom. In December 2008 in Limone Piemonte he reached seventh place in the parallel giant slalom, his first top ten placement in the World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2009 in Gangwon , he won 17th place in the parallel slalom. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season in Telluride he took second place in the parallel giant slalom, his first podium finish in the World Cup. At the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina , he finished eighth in the parallel slalom and fourth in the parallel giant slalom. In January 2013 he came in seventh place in the parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom at the Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham . Three months later he became Swiss champion in the parallel giant slalom. At his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he finished 11th in the parallel giant slalom and tenth in the parallel slalom. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , he achieved 31st place in the parallel giant slalom and ninth place in the parallel slalom. In March 2015 he became Swiss champion in parallel slalom in Grächen . In the 2016/17 season he achieved three top ten placements in the World Cup, including second place in the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein and thus seventh place in the parallel slalom World Cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he was tenth in the parallel slalom.
So far, Flütsch has competed in 84 World Cups and was among the top ten 19 times. (Status: end of season 2016/17) He has also been taking part in the European Cup since 2004. He has won five so far and in the 2009/10 season he was sixth in the parallel cup ranking.
