Life

Catharina von der Hoya, born in Minden in the middle of the 16th century in 1563, was her first marriage to the mayor of Dortmund , Johann Schmerrhimen († 1607). After his death, the widow remarried to a mayor a few years later, according to the church book of the market church of the city of Hanover on October 24, 1613 with the Hanoverian mayor Erich Reiche . Until the death of von der Hoyas, the couple lived together for about four years in Schmiedestrasse 14.

Katharina von der Hoya died on the same day as her stepdaughter Elisabeth Völger (1587–1617). According to Pastor David Meier's funeral sermon, the two were buried one after the other on May 8, 1617 in the Marktkirche and on May 9 of that year in the Aegidienkirche .
