Katrine Tjølsen (born January 28, 1993 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian chess player .

Life

After graduating from Norges Toppidretts High School, she was a student at the Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro and has been studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 2012 .

Your club is the Bergens Schakklub . She was trained there as a child by Kjetil Stokke .

successes

In April 2006 she won the Otto Ibenfeldt Memorial , an Elo tournament in Gausdal . In 2007 she won the Norwegian U16 youth championship. In April 2008 she won the Nordic U20 championship for women in Oslo . She was able to defend the title a year later in Stockholm . She won the Norwegian U20 Championship in Fredrikstad in July 2010 . A month later she won the rapid chess championship of the state of Rio de Janeiro .

She has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM) since January 2010. She achieved the standards for this at the 22nd International Open in Benidorm in May 2009 and at the Arctic Chess Challenge in Tromsø in August 2009, where she won against Heikki Westerinen , among others , as well as at the Junior World Championships in November 2009 in Puerto Madryn, Argentina . In February 2015, she was fourth on the Norwegian women's Elo ranking.

National team

For the Norwegian women's national team she took part in the 2008 Chess Olympiads in Dresden on the fourth and 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk on the top board.

societies

In the Norwegian Eliteserien Tjølsen played from 2007 to 2010 for the Bergens Schakklub . In the British Four Nations Chess League (4NCL) she played in the 2009/10 season for the second team of Wood Green Hilsmark Kingfisher .
