Kausen is a district of Großmaischeid in the Neuwied district in northern Rhineland-Palatinate .

Kausen is located in the Westerwald in northern Rhineland-Palatinate in the Neuwied district , about two kilometers south-east of the main town of Großmaischeid.
history
Before the settlement, the area of today's district was a wooded natural landscape, which was probably cleared between 850 and 1300 AD.
Like Großmaischeid, Kausen was part of the Nieder-Isenburg rulership until 1664 .
Incorporation
As part of the territorial reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, which took effect on March 17, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Kausen was incorporated into the local municipality of Großmaischeid. At that time, Kausen had 270 inhabitants.

According to the main statute, the district of Kausen is the only local district of the Großmaischeid local community and has its own local advisory board and a local councilor .

Mayor
Klaus Kern became Mayor of Kausen on September 4, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, no applicant had run; his election was made by the local advisory board. His predecessors were Detlef Roth (SPD, 2014–2019) and Hans-Toni Günster (CDU, until 2014).
Culture
In the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate (as of June 5, 2018) the following cultural monuments of the district are named:
- Half-timbered transverse house: partly solid, 18th century, Hohlstrasse 8
- Way cross: Shaft cross, basalt, marked 1851, west above the town on the road K 117 to Großmaischeid
Transport and infrastructure
Kausen is connected to the main town Großmaischeid by the district road 117 , which leads to the northwest , while the district road 118 leads north to Stebach . The state road 304 passing south of Kausen connects Isenburg with Wittgert and Ellenhausen .
