The Kavlico GmbH was the German branch of Kavlico Corporation Foundation based in California , a manufacturer of sensors and signal converters. In Germany, the company mainly produced sensors for the automotive and commercial vehicle industries, as well as for various industrial applications. From 2004 to 2013 the company was part of Schneider Electric . In 2013, Kavlico was acquired by the private equity firms The Carlyle Group and PAI Partners and sold to Sensata Technologies (a spin-off from Texas Instruments ) in July 2015 .

history
The Kavlico Corporation was founded in 1958 by the Norwegian immigrant Fred Kavli in the San Fernando Valley in Chatsworth , California . In 1986, all operations moved to the Moorpark , California office. In the first building with 183,000 m² pressure and position sensors were produced. The second building was completed in 1993 and the third in 1998. In addition to the production area, the company's headquarters were located on an area of 314,000 m². The first Kavlico products were used in space travel . The headquarters were relocated from Moorpark to nearby Thousand Oaks in 2015.
The company Inter Sales, founded in 1996, was renamed Kavlico GmbH in 1999 and thus represents the German subsidiary of Kavlico. In 2004 Schneider Electric acquired 100 percent of the Kavlico shares.
In 2010, a new technology center was opened at the Minden-Päpinghausen production site .
In 2013, Schneider Electric sold Kavlico to The Carlyle Group , which then sold the company to Sensata Technologies , a spin-off from Texas Instruments .
The Minden location was closed on June 30, 2017.
