Kawwana - Church of the New Aeon is an esoteric - Gnostic new religious movement .

history

Its public history began in 1996 with the entry in the register of associations at the Munich District Court and ended on January 6, 2003, when Vicarius Thorwald Dethlefsen, who died in December 2010, declared at the Epiphany event that the church had largely successfully fulfilled its mission and was therefore out of the World Assiah has been transferred to the higher world Briah.

Between 1999 and 2003, under the direction of Vicarius Dethlefsen , the Kawwana Church and around 40 close employees carried out a total of nine semi-public events, seven in Munich and two in Vienna . Between 300 and 900 registered guests and some spontaneous visitors took part. It is estimated that at least 1,000 people joined the Church with the Symmachia, a baptism ritual, and will remain connected to it after 2003.

In 1998 the church built a temple of the Most High God in a Munich backyard on Gärtnerplatz . This was demolished in early summer 2009.

The church's plan to establish a large community center in Munich in an old factory on Plinganserstraße failed due to administrative restrictions.

Traditions and prehistory

The Kabbalah according to Isaac Luria is a main source of the Kawwana Church. Thorwald Dethlefsen said: "I am not a guru , I have a guru." This is Luria, from whom the Kawwana homepage announced at times: "Ari is alive!"

Western esotericism is another source. Dethlefsen worked from 1974 to 1990 as an esoteric author and teacher and as a reincarnation therapist far beyond the German-speaking countries. The belief in reincarnation , the use of symbols , astrology , alchemy , tarot , magic are among the foundations of the church, as is the law of polarity or the principle of resonance.

The myth has always played a major role for Dethlefsen. In 1989 his work " Oedipus , the Riddle Solver" was published, an examination of the concept of myth in its relationship to cult , religion and Greek tragedy . Dethlefsen understands the tragedy as a cult that brings about collective psychotherapy through catharsis . As such, the Kawwana Church is a new myth. Their expressions and dogmas are mythical. Her rituals represent dramatizations of myths. The more abstract-philosophical thinking of esotericism is now receding in favor of mythological personalization. It is no longer said that God is the All-One, the Tao, but on the one hand He is En-Sof, on the other hand he reveals himself as "The Supreme God" in search of his lost "Shekinah". Instead of “good and evil”, the “shadow god Jaldabaoth”, 555 devils and the “tree of death” as antagonists of the “tree of life” are now spoken of.

Dethlefsen's relationship with the Swiss by choice Oskar Rudolf Schlag , who from 1930 became the mouthpiece of the spiritual being A. = Atma Anupadaka, had an influence on the Kawwana Church . It was only after Schlag's death in 1990 that the publication of the Atma protocols began. The medium blow expresses itself there as atma on all questions of esoteric philosophy, v. a. Dethlefsen gave a lecture on the Kawwana teaching in 1999/2000 in his “Dogma” trilogy of around twelve hours in total. In doing so, he developed a highly complex system that crystallized in the "eleven pillars":

  2. The Shekinah (as the feminine side of God, world, Shekinah light)

  6. The four worlds (Assiah, Jetzirah, Briah, Atziluth)
  7. The way back (from Malkuth in Assiah up to Atziluth)
  8. Evil (objective and subjective evil; Yaldabaoth , the death tree)
  9. Light and word (the light side, the tree of life, word is light in other revelation)
  10. The death (decision situation, place, Bardo , possible reincarnation)
  11. The New Aeon ("The Most High came to rule, he came closer to our world than ever before. His son took on the robe of man ...")

ethics

The book "KAWWANA" (2003) contains a note on " Morals " and an ethics of the seven steps or "Transmutationes".

The transmutation ethic is an ethic of responsibility , not an ethic of trade, but an ethic of being. But it transcends all ethics towards mysticism :

Rituals and sacraments

According to its conception of alchemy , Kabbalah and magic , the Kawwana Church carried out rituals at its large-scale events that could either be enjoyed as a passive spectator or completed as an active adept ( initiation ).

  • "Anabasis" (Oct. 1999, Dec. 1999, Oct. 2000; ritual, based on Lurian light mysticism; among other things, a total of nine world religions / denominations and 20 sects are magically treated)
