Kay Kysela

Kay Kysela , also Kay Silvan Kysela , (* 1989 in Bern , according to other sources in Aarberg , Canton Bern , according to own information in Biel ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Kay Kysela grew up in the Biel area. His mother comes from Cameroon , his father has roots in Switzerland and the Czech Republic. He first trained as a nurse , danced and lived for some time as an acrobat with his martial arts-acrobatics-comedy troupe. At the age of 23, however, he decided to become an actor. He attended the International Drama School in Basel from 2010–2011. From 2012 to 2015 he studied acting at the Bern University of the Arts . After completing his bachelor's degree, he studied for half a year in the master’s course at the Zurich University of the Arts . In 2017 he completed the "Expanded Theater" course at the Bern University of the Arts. In 2014, Kay Kysela won the Swiss “Young Talents” award.

He already had his first theater engagements during his training. In February / March 2012 he was a guest at Theater Mausefalle in Solothurn as a prince in a dialect version of the fairy tale play Rumpelstiltskin .

He played the title role in Othello at the Basel Theater from 2012–2013 (director: Patrick Gusset ). He also had a role as a farmer in Philipp Stölzl's staging of Shelley 's Frankenstein novel from 2014–2015. In 2015 he was a guest at the Zurich Festival (as Caliban in Sturm in Patumbah , director: Niklaus Helbling ). Since the 2016/17 season he has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the St. Gallen Theater . There he has so far u. a. as Laertes and Rosenkranz in Hamlet (premiere: September 2016) and as Tinker Bell in Peter Pan (premiere: November 2016). In the 2016/17 season, Kysela will also be on stage at the St. Gallen Theater in the stage version of Dürrenmatt 's last novel Durcheinandertal (world premiere at the St. Gallen Theater).

Kysela has also had film and television roles since 2010. He first appeared in short films, commercials and music videos. In the Swiss Tatort: ​​Kleine Prinzen (first broadcast: March 2016) he played the Egyptian Abdul Malik, the bodyguard of a minister from an Arab emirate . In the Swiss Tatort: ​​Freitod (first broadcast: September 2016), he played the Indian police intern Vikinesh Jeyanantham. In Res Balzli's movie Tinou (2016) he played a South African football player . In the television film Im Nirgendwo (first broadcast: September 26, 2016) by Katalin Gödrös , he played a village police officer. Kysela had a supporting role in the ZDF crime thriller Commissioner Heller: Hidden Traces (first broadcast: January 2017); he played Murat Yakin, a police officer of Turkish origin whose grandmother is from Switzerland. In the follow-up thriller Providence (first broadcast: January 2018), he took on this role again, this time in an extended role as Heller's assistant.

Kysela speaks various Swiss and German dialects (Bern German, Swabian, Solothurn dialect, Valais German and Zurich German) and plays Djembé . He lives in St. Gallen .
