action

In a somewhat shabby apartment building, the final preparations are made with great care: a glass of water and pentobarbital are prepared, a candle is lit and the video camera is prepared. Then the declaration of suicide is presented to Gisela Aichinger for signature. The dying companion, Helen Mathys, hands over the barbiturate , and colleague Nadine Camenisch starts the camera: “For legal reasons.” Helen Mathys and daughter Daniela lay Gisela Aichinger to rest. When the coffin is being carried out, a group of activists from the “life protectors” of “Pro Vita” is ready to protest. Suddenly the disturbed Martin Aichinger jumps in front of the car and accuses his sister of killing her mother. He gets violent towards Helen Mathys and announces the end of the world. In a playground he is approached by Debbie Zurbuchen and goes to her. The third companion, Jonas Sauber, says goodbye to university, and Helen tells Nadine that she still has an appointment that will help her with Milan. In the playground, Helen is hit on the back of the head and then suffocated with a plastic bag.

The inspectors Reto Flückiger and Liz Ritschard did not find a cell phone, but they did find an ID from the “Transitus” support organization. Dr. Hermann tells the investigators that Helen Mathys lost her life partner Milan König six months ago, but does not mention that they were once in a relationship. Only Mike Zumbrunn, who has kidney disease, lives in the apartment building - everyone else has moved away. Dr. Hermann introduces his two employees, Nadine Camenisch and Jonas Sauber, to the inspectors in the final quiet room. They found out that Helen had planned another meeting. They request the list of members from Pro Vita boss Josef Thommen. He advises them to look into the matter of the late Milan king. Apparently something is supposed to be unclear about his death. Dr. Hermann is attacked by Martin Aichinger in his office and looks on while he takes Gisela Aichinger's file. So he can scurry into Camenisch's apartment at night unnoticed. Since she has a lot of experience as a nurse, she can reassure him, telling him that she will inform the police, but not that she will give him a plastic bag. In the crematorium he says goodbye to his mother.

The interrogations of Josef Thommen and Mike Zumbrunn do not lead any further, but it is striking that Nadine Camenisch stepped in for the nurse Tereza Hergiu, who may have wanted to pretend to be an informant for Helen Mathys. Mrs. Hergiu lies dead in her apartment - suffocated with a plastic bag. The commissioners find files in their locker on victims of sudden cardiac death when Nadine Camenisch was always on duty: the angel of death. Jonas Sauber also finds out in Camenisch's apartment, but is knocked down and suffocated by her too. The commissioners are too late. Camenisch prepares her last action and sends a video message to Flückiger. She admits the numerous murders and takes the supposed death potion. Mike Zumbrunn, however, had filled the bottle with water - in order to sabotage the next planned euthanasia. Camenisch is then arrested.

criticism

“It is about legal terminal care in Switzerland, which is active and helping - as in Germany - forbidden, but is allowed under certain conditions. The film clearly shows this in the first few minutes [...] The real crime thriller only begins afterwards. And that's where the weaknesses begin. "

- Rainer Tittelbach : tittelbach.tv

Tilmann P. Gangloff from evangelisch.de comes to the following conclusion:

“The subject is far too serious to be turned into a speculative crime thriller. This also characterizes the implementation: the images are rather dark and emphasized achromatic, the staging is concentrated but calm; hectic scenes practically forbid themselves. Nevertheless, there are some moments of great tension [...] The mirror setting is also refined, which shows the hopelessness of another victim. [...] The successful ending, however, is pretty macabre. "
