Bafia, who started for TS Wisła Zakopane , first made his international debut in ski jumping. At his first start in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in March 1994, he achieved the points directly with the 21st place in Zakopane from Wielka Krokiew . After he won another point a day later from the Średnia Krokiew , he always missed a placement in the top thirty in his subsequent attempts.
He made his first successful international appearances in Nordic combined in the B-World Cup in 1994/95 , with his best season in this second-rate series of competitions being in 1996/97 , when he finished 18th overall. After he was able to collect World Cup points for the first time in 1998/99 , Bafia was nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau in 1999. In the competition in the Gundersen method , he finished 26th and in the sprint 34th place. Two years later, he placed at the World Championships in Lahti only in the lower ranks.
At the national level, Bafia was one of the top athletes. While he won his first championship title in 1993 in Szczyrk together with Józef Joniak and Stanisław Ustupski , he won his first individual medal behind Stefan Habas and Władysław Styrczula with third place in the Gundersen competition in Szczyrk in 1995 . Ultimately, he was twelve times Polish champion, eight times in the individual. Bafia was also able to win three bronze medals at ski jumping championships , the first of which in 1996 in a team with Andrzej Młynarczyk and Robert Mateja .
In January 2008, Bafia made his debut as FIS ski jumping judge . In the 2018/19 season , he still held this position at the highest level, whereas in the winter of 2019/20 he was only used in the third-class FIS Cup . He was also the club trainer in ski jumping and Nordic combined at TS Wisła Zakopane and KS Chochołów . He is Vice-President of the Stanisław Marusarz Foundation in Zakopane.
