Kazimierz Długopolski (born July 6, 1950 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish Nordic combined and ski jumper . He was once Polish individual champion in both disciplines, as well as six-time champion with the 4 × 10 km relay.
Career
Career
Długopolski, who competed for SKS Start Zakopane and WKS Zakopane , won his first national medal at the Polish Championships in Nordic Combined in 1970 at the age of 19. A year later he was able to win the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial Competition in Zakopane in Nordic Combined for the first time. In total, he won the competition four times (1971, 1973, 1975, 1978).
Długopolski was a participant in the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , Japan , where he took twelfth place in the individual competition in the Nordic combined (normal hill / 15 km). At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he was thirteenth.
He achieved his greatest success at the end of the 1970s when he became Polish Nordic Combined Champion in 1977 and the ski jumping championship in 1978 . In addition, he won the Beskydy Tour in ski jumping in 1978 . Due to its strong form he was for the Nordic World Ski Championships 1978 in Finland's Lahti nominated, where he was able to achieve with the ninth place his best result at this level. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , he finished 23rd in the Nordic combined. He was not nominated for the ski jumping competition.
After winning a total of eight championship titles in various disciplines, he ended his active career in 1984.
Coaching career
Długopolski began working as a coach at his home club SKS Start Zakopane immediately after retiring. In the 2006/07 season he moved to the Polish Ski Association and became assistant coach of the B team. He is the trainer and judge of the FIS . After Start Krokiew Zakopane was dissolved and converted into AZS Zakopane , it trains young athletes there. Among other things, he was the trainer of Grzegorz Sobczyk , the later Polish champion and World Cup winner Maciej Kot , and Andrzej Stękała .
Personal
Kazimierz Długopolski is married and has one son, the former ski jumper Krystian Długopolski .
