geography

The city is located in the southeast of the West Siberian lowlands about 350 km northwest of the Oblast capital Tomsk , on the Tschusik River , the left source river of the parabola , which in turn flows into the Ob .

The city of Kedrowy is directly subordinate to the Oblast. It is surrounded by the territory of the Parable Rajon , to which it does not belong. Six villages (Kalininsk, Luschnikowo, Ostanino, Pudino, Rogaljowo, Tawanga) with a total of 2125 inhabitants are administered by the city, so that the total population of the administrative unit "City of Kedrowy" is 4737 (2009 calculation).

There is no year-round fixed road connection to Kedrowy. Only in winter it can be reached via slopes, partly on the ice of the rivers, with road vehicles from the regional road R399, which passes 150 kilometers away. The city has a small airport that has irregular flights.

history

Kedrowy was established in 1982 as an oil workers' settlement . The name given in 1986 is derived from the Russian word kedr (literally cedar , meaning the Siberian stone pine ). In 1987 the place received city rights. The expectations for the development of oil production in this area have so far not been fulfilled, mainly because of the infrastructural unfavorable location, so that the population development stagnated in contrast to many other cities in the West Siberian lowlands.
