Keegan Dansereau (born January 1, 1988 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with Hungarian citizenship, who has been under contract with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in the multinational first division since 2019 .
Career
Keegan Dansereau began his career as a hockey player with the Calgary Hitmen , which selected him in the first round of the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft as a ninth player. In the Olympic city of the year he was born , he played in the Western Hockey League for four years before moving to league rivals Swift Current Broncos in 2007 . In 2009 he was committed by the Binghamton Senators from the American Hockey League , but mainly used with the farm team Elmira Jackals in the East Coast Hockey League . In 2010 he ventured to Europe for the first time and joined the Mörrums GoIS IK from the Swedish Division I , the third highest division in the country. Although he was the top scorer and top scorer of the league there, he returned to North America in February 2011, where he ended the season with the Laredo Bucks from the Central Hockey League . He then moved to the Horse Lake Chiefs from the lower class Northern Pacific Hockey League , where he was on the ice for a year.
In 2012 Dansereau moved to Europe permanently. After another year in Mörrum, he joined the league competitor Olofström IK in 2013 , where he also played for a year. Since 2014 he has been playing for Hungarian teams in the multinational MOL league . After initially two years in Miskolc for DVTK Jegesmedvék , with whom he won both the league and the Hungarian championship in 2015 and 2016 , he was under contract with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in 2016/17 and became the league's top scorer. Between 2017 and 2019 he played for MAC Budapest and won both the MOL league and the Hungarian championship with the club in 2018. In the 2018/19 season he played with MAC in the Slovakian Extra League before returning to the Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in 2019.
International
As a junior Dansereau took part with the Canada West team in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2005 , which he won with his team. In 2017 he received Hungarian citizenship and made his debut for the Hungarian national team at the World Cup that year .
