Keeping Up with the Kardashians (often abbreviated as KUWTK ) is an American reality show broadcast by E! . The main focus of the series is on the personal and professional life of the Kardashian-Jenner family . It was first broadcast in the US on October 14, 2007 on E !. The German premiere followed on November 6, 2011 on VIVA .
The series focuses on the sisters Kourtney , Kim and Khloé Kardashian and their younger half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner . Her parents Kris and Caitlyn Jenner (previously known as Bruce Jenner) and her brother Rob Kardashian also appear on the series. The respective partners of the Kardashians / Jenners are also part of Keeping up with the Kardashians. These include Kourtney's ex-boyfriend Scott Disick , Kim's ex-husband Kris Humphries (until 2013) and her current husband Kanye West , Khloé's ex-husband Lamar Odom (until 2016) and her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson . Caitlyn's sons Brody and Brandon Jenner also appeared in several episodes from previous seasons (through 2015). Kim's best friend Jonathan Cheban and Khloé's girlfriend Malika Haqq are also on the show.

Robert Kardashian (* 1944, † 2003) and Kris Jenner (* 1955 as Kristen Mary Haughton) were married from 1978 to 1991 and had four children together: Kourtney (* 1979), Kim (* 1980), Khloé (* 1984) and Rob Kardashian (born 1987). Robert Kardashian was best known for his role as a lawyer in the criminal case against OJ Simpson in 1994 . He defended Simpson against the allegations of the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59 . In 1991 Kris Jenner married the Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner (then Bruce Jenner). The two have two daughters: Kendall (* 1995) and Kylie Jenner (* 1997).
In the early 2000s, Kim Kardashian worked as a personal assistant for Paris Hilton and formed a close friendship with her, which made her known to a wider public for the first time: She had several appearances on Hilton's television series The Simple Life and was often photographed by paparazzi. At the time, Kim was also working for other celebrities such as Brandy Norwood and Lindsay Lohan .
On February 21, 2007 a net was previously published rotated private sex tape, which she shared with her then-boyfriend, singer Ray J , shows. The Vivid Entertainment Group acquired the rights for a million dollars , and released the film under the name of Kim Kardashian Superstar . Kim first brought a civil lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment, which she dropped in April 2007 for a payment of five million US dollars. It is often assumed that the release of the sex video is one of the main reasons for the success and later celebrity of Kim Kardashian and her family.
