from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Keith N. Brooke (born August 23, 1966 in Dovercourt , Essex ) is a British science fiction writer.

Life

Brooke studied ecology and environmental science at the University of East Anglia , where he met his future wife, Alison, and began writing science fiction stories. In 1989 the first short stories, particularly Adrenotropic Man, appeared in Interzone magazine , and Brooke became a freelance writer. In 1990 Gollancz published his first novel, Keepers of the Peace , but after about eight years of a rather precarious writing life he had to look for better paid work and was finally hired by the University of Essex as web designer and responsible for the university's website. For the next fifteen years he became the assistant manager of the marketing department, doing his doctorate and teaching creative writing . In 2014 he gave up the position there and devoted himself again to writing, the publication of his science fiction and fantasy web magazine infinity plus and in connection with it the publishing of e-books. Together with Nick Gevers, he published two anthologies with stories from infinity plus in 2001 and 2003 . In 2012, Strange Divisions and Alien Territories appeared , in which he dealt with the subgenres of science fiction. In 2013 he was a finalist in the Philip K. Dick Awards with his novel Harmony .

He has published several books for young people under the pseudonym Nick Gifford.

Brooke lives in Wivenhoe , Essex with his second wife, Debbie .
