Keith Douglas Scott (born July 20, 1954 in Vancouver ) is a Canadian musician and guitarist . Scott became known as the lead guitarist of rock musician Bryan Adams , whose band he has been a member of since 1981 .

Life

Born in 1954 in Vancouver , Canada , Scott came into contact with music at an early age through his musical parents (his father played jazz piano, his mother sang from time to time). Among other things, he played the flute in the school orchestra. With the money he had received on his 14th birthday, Scott bought his first acoustic guitar in 1968 in a shop called "Five and a Dime". After Scott play the guitar autodidact learned, he bought three years later his first electric guitar , a used Fender Stratocaster . He emulated his guitar heroes such as Jimi Hendrix , Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck , who significantly influenced his style.

During the 1970s , Scott toured Canada's lucrative nightclub scene with bands such as Bowser Moon, The Handley Page Group and Zingo. In these engagements Scott played up to 300 gigs a year.

In 1981 Bryan Adams, also a musician from the Canadian nightclub scene, formed a band for commercial recordings. Adams already had a record deal as well as two albums and needed a permanent band in order to be able to play larger tours. Adams, who already knew Scott from the scene, hired the guitarist as a musician for the live band. This commitment resulted in a collaboration and close friendship that continues to this day. Scott can be heard on all of Bryan Adams' albums and accompanied Adams at a large number of concerts.

In addition to working with Bryan Adams, Scott has also worked as a musician for other artists. Scott played u. a. Guitar for artists like Cher , Tina Turner and Tom Cochrane . With Bryan Ferry Scott recorded the album "Boys And Girls" .

Due to his achievements, the Gretsch Scott company dedicated its own guitar, the Gretsch 6120. Despite this signature model, Scott plays different instruments on stage and in the studio, depending on the required sound. a. a Gibson Les Paul , a Fender Stratocaster and various acoustic guitars .

He plays with Mark Holden and Mickey Curry in the band The Fontanas, and the first CD with his own music has been completed.

Scott is privately married and has two children.

Keith Scott is considered to be the perfect example of a musician who helps a band (so-called sidekick or sideman).
