Mike Starr (musician)

Mike Starr (born April 4, 1966 in Honolulu , Hawaii , † March 8, 2011 in Salt Lake City , Utah ; actually Michael Christopher Starr ) was an American musician . He became known in the early 1990s as the bass player and founding member of Alice in Chains .

Career

Starr recorded two albums and an EP with Alice in Chains. In 1993 he left the band while touring the album Dirt . The background was allegedly his heroin excesses.

In 1995 he founded the band Sun Red Sun together with former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Bobby Rondinelli as well as John West and Al Romano .

On March 8, 2011, he was found dead in Salt Lake City. He is known to have had drug problems for years . He also took part in the American television program Celebrity Rehab , in which celebrities try to get their drug addiction under control. He was most recently arrested for drug possession.
