Kenos Aroi

Kenos Aroi (also Kenas Aroi ; * April 17, 1942 , † January 22, 1991 ) was a Nauruan politician and President of the Republic of Nauru from August 17 to December 12, 1989.

Aroi was a member of the Nauruan parliament and finance minister of former President Kennan Adeang . Prior to his presidency, Aroi was chairman of the NPC . With the support of Kennan Adeang, who ousted Hammer DeRoburt in a vote of no confidence , Aroi was elected President on August 17, 1989. Adeang was named Minister of Finance by Aroi. However, Aroi suffered a stroke three months later and resigned in the general election on December 12 because of poor health. His ally Bernard Dowiyogo succeeded him.

According to Australian government sources, Kenos Aroi was an unrecognized but biological son of Hammer DeRoburt . His daughter Millicent Aroi is an ambassador to Fiji and a composer.
