Frederick Pitcher
Frederick William Pitcher (born February 5, 1967 ) is a Nauruan politician. In November 2011, he was President Naurus for six days. Since December 2007 he was Minister of Finance of Nauru.
Life
His father's ancestors come from Australia , but Pitcher's mother is a native of Nauru; he grew up in Nauru and completed his basic training there. He received his high school degree and further training in Sydney , where he studied economic sociology at Macquarie University in the early 1990s . Pitcher then worked for the Asian Development Bank in Manila (Philippines) and Japan for two years . From 2000 he was deputy to the Nauruan UN ambassador Vinci Clodumar in New York .
In the parliamentary elections on October 23, 2004, Pitcher was elected to the Nauruan parliament and appointed Minister for Island Development and Industry by President Ludwig Scotty . On November 10, 2007, he resigned together with Health Minister Kieren Keke and Justice Minister Roland Kun after a falling out with Foreign Minister David Adeang . When President Scotty was ousted by Marcus Stephen by a vote of no confidence on December 19, 2007, Stephen appointed him Minister of Finance and Economics. After Stephen stepped down on November 10, 2011, Pitcher was elected to succeed him. However, he was voted out of office on November 15th.
