Kensuke Sasaki ( Japanese 佐 々 木 健 介 , Sasaki Kensuke ; born August 4, 1966 in Fukuoka , Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese wrestler , promoter and former MMA fighter . One of the greatest successes of his career was receiving the IWGP Heavyweight Championship five times .
Sasaki has been married to wrestler Akira Hokuto since October 1, 1995. With this he founded the promotion Kensuke Office Pro-Wrestling (now Diamond Ring ) in 2005 .
Career
Beginnings
Sasaki was trained by Riki Choshu . On February 16, 1986, Sasaki made his debut in Japan Pro Wrestling (the promotion of Riki Choshu ).
New Japan Pro Wrestling (1987-2002) / North America / Europe
In June 1987, Sasaki joined New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). From 1988 to 1990 he performed in Canada ( STAMPEDE Wrestling ) and the USA . In the US, he joined World Wrestling Council , where he his first title, the on January 14, 1989 WWC Caribbean Tag Team Championship , with Mr. Pogo won . In 1989 he appeared in Europe , in the Catch Wrestling Association .
On November 1, 1990 , Sasaki won the IWGP Tag Team Championship with Hiroshi Hase at NJPW . They gave the title to Hiro Saito and Super Strong Machine . Of these , Sasaki and Hase won the title back on March 6, 1991. On March 21, they gave the title to The Steiner Brothers ( Rick and Scott Steiner ).
From 1992 to 1996 Sasaki appeared several times in World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
At the end of 1992 he formed, as a Power Warrior , with Road Warrior Hawk the tag team The Hell Raisers . With Road Warrior Hawk won Sasaki twice the IWGP Tag Team Championship .
On November 13, 1995 , Sasaki won the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship from Sting . He gave the title to One Man Gang .
In 1996, Sasaki briefly appeared again as a Power Warrior , together with The Road Warriors .
On August 31, 1997 , he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Shinya Hashimoto . He gave the title to Tatsumi Fujinami .
1997 and 2000. Sasaki was the G1 Climax tournament for itself decide .
On January 4, 2000 , Sasaki won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for the second time. Until 2004 he won the title three more times.
Fighting World of Japan Pro Wrestling (2003)
In 2003, Sasaki joined Fighting World of Japan Pro Wrestling (WJ). The promotion was founded by its first trainer, Riki Choshu . At WJ , Sasaki won the WMG Heavyweight Championship .
New Japan Pro Wrestling (2004-2005)
In late 2003, Sasaki Fighting World of Japan Pro Wrestling left and returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling. On March 12, 2004 , he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship . He gave the title to Bob Sapp after just 16 days, on March 28th . At NJPW, Sasaki feuded Yuji Nagata .
Sasaki founded the Stable Kensuke Office in 2004 .
All Japan Pro Wrestling (2005-2008)
In March 2005 Sasaki left New Japan Pro Wrestling and signed a contract with All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW).
On April 20, Sasaki was the Champion Carnival win . At AJPW he formed a tag team with Katsuhiko Nakajima (a member of the Stable Kensuke Office ) . Together they won the All Asia Tag Team Championship on July 26, 2005 . In July, Sasaki injured his eye and the title was declared vacant.
On August 26, 2007 , he won the AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship from Minoru Suzuki . He gave the title to Suwama on April 29, 2008 .
Pro Wrestling NOAH (2008-present)
In June 2008 Sasaki left APJW and signed a contract with Pro Wrestling NOAH in July. There he won the GHC Heavyweight Championship on September 6th . He gave the title to Jun Akiyama on March 1, 2009 . In September Sasaki formed a tag team with Takeshi Morishima . With Morishima he won the GHC Tag Team Championship on September 21 . They gave the title to Mohammed Yone and Takeshi Rikio after 76 days, on December 6th .
Kensuke Office Pro-Wrestling / Diamond Ring
In 2005, Sasaki founded Kensuke Office Pro-Wrestling with his wife Akira Hokuto . Initially an agency, from 2007 onwards they set up their own shows. Since Sasaki appears (for the most part) at Pro Wrestling NOAH , you work closely with them.
In early 2012 "Kensuke Office Pro-Wrestling" was renamed "Diamond Ring". However, the Sasaki Training School will continue to be called "Kensuke Office".
MMA (2001-2003)
As early as 2001, Sasaki had an MMA fight. In September 2002 he left New Japan Pro Wrestling and trained for his MMA career. After another fight in 2003, he ended his MMA career and returned to his wrestling career.
