Kent Fearns (* 13. September 1972 in Langley , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who in his active period from 1991 to 2005 included the Munich Barons , the ERC Ingolstadt and Hamburg Freezers in the German Ice Hockey League has played .
Career
Kent Fearns began his career as a hockey player on the Colorado College team , for which he was active from 1991 to 1995. During this period he was selected in the 1993 NHL Supplemental Draft as the sixth player by the Hartford Whalers , for which he never played. Instead, the defender was in the 1995/96 season with the Flint Generals from the Colonial Hockey League , the Cape Breton Oilers from the American Hockey League , and the Knoxville Cherokees from the East Coast Hockey League under contract. The following season he began again in Knoxville, but he moved during the season to the International Hockey League , in which he first ran for Las Vegas Thunder and then for the Manitoba Moose . Then the left shooter stayed in Manitoba, for which he played another two years in the IHL.
In the summer of 1999 Fearns was hired by the newly founded Munich Barons from the DEL , with whom he was first German champion in the 1999/2000 season before he failed with his team in the DEL final at Adler Mannheim the following year . When the Barons were relocated to Hamburg in 2002 , the Canadian left the club and played for ERC Ingolstadt for a year before returning to his relocated ex-club, which was renamed Hamburg Freezers , for the 2003/04 season . After reaching the playoff semifinals with the Freezers, Fearns signed with the reigning Austrian champions EC KAC , where he ended his career in 2005.
