Kentarō Satō (born November 16, 1994 ) is a Japanese sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Kentarō Satō gained his first international experience at the IAAF World Relays 2015 in the Bahamas , where he was eliminated from the preliminary round with the Japanese 4-by-400-meter relay. He then won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Wuhan in 46.09 s behind the Katari Abdalelah Haroun and Yousef Ahmed Masrahi from Saudi Arabia. At the Summer Universiade in Gwangju he won the silver medal with the relay in 3: 07.75 min and was eliminated in the individual competition with 46.36 seconds in the semifinals. In 2017 he took part with the relay at the World Championships in London , but did not qualify for the final with 3: 07.29 min . In 2019 he won the relay at the Asian Championships in Doha in 3: 02.94 min and won the bronze medal in the mixed relay behind Bahrain and India in 3: 20.29 min. Shortly afterwards he came fourth at the World Relays in Yokohama in 3: 03.24 min and at the World Championships in Doha he was eliminated with the relay with 3: 02.05 min in advance.
