Novovoronesch II ( Russian: Нововоро́нежская АЭС-II [ ], abbreviation НВАЭС II , NWAES II ) is one of two nuclear power plants near the city of Novovoronesch in central Russia. It is located near the existing Novovoronezh nuclear power plant .
history
In 2006 the government brought the 2007-2015 project on its way. This project includes the plan to commission two new reactors every year from 2012 . The Novovoronesch II nuclear power plant was planned. The decision to build the power plant was made in 1999. In June 1999 the state inspection authority Gosatomnadzor had already issued the license for the construction. At that time, however, VVER-1000 with a longer construction period of ten years were planned. Funding the project was also problematic. On June 20, 2007, preparations for the construction site began. The foundation stone of the nuclear power plant was laid on June 21, 2007.
The power plant will have two reactors of the type WWER -1200 / 392M in the form of an AES-2006 . The reactors will be the first of the so-called Generation 3 in Russia. The first block should go online in 2012, and the second one year later. Block 1 was only driven critically with a delay, in May 2016. After the Japanese ABWR and the South Korean APR-1400, it is the third generation 3 reactor type that delivers electricity to the grid, but the first generation III + worldwide.
The cost of the project is from 110 to 130 billion rubles, which is about 3.8 billion euros. The city of Novovoronezh is also being expanded to offer the workers of the new power plant an apartment. At the beginning of 2008, the first two apartment blocks were ready.
Building preparation
Baltkran built two custom-made cranes especially for the power plant and delivered them on November 9, 2007. The bridge of such a crane alone is 60 meters long. The cranes can carry loads of up to 160 tons. On April 17, 2008, the foundation pit for the first block was completed. A total of over 400,000 m³ of earth was removed. The earthworks for the second block will also be completed shortly.
At the beginning of 2008, 600 people were working on the construction site. In 2008 this number is to be increased to 1,500 workers.
On May 29, 2008, the Power Machines company received the order to supply the turbines and generators for the power plant and the Leningrad II nuclear power plant from 2010 to 2012 . Here is Rosenergoatom signed a contract for the supply of the components in the amount of 1.7 billion dollars. Gazprombank is assuming part of the financing for the power plant . Later these are to be bought by Rosatom. According to the engineering works, the price of the turbines will be $ 127 million. However, some nuclear experts consider this price too high.
After the preparatory work, construction of the first block officially started on June 24, 2008. The reactor will be the most powerful reactor in Russia. Construction of the second reactor began on July 12, 2009. The emergency power generators worth 26 million euros with MTU “20V 956 TB33” engines are to be delivered by the drive system and energy systems group Tognum at the beginning of 2012.
