Novovoronesch ( Russian Нововоронеж for "New Voronezh") is a Russian city with 32,635 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010), 55 kilometers south of Voronezh in the oblast of the same name . It is on the left bank of the Don . Liski, 40 km away, is the closest town south of Novovoronezh .
history
Novovoronezh was founded in 1957 with the first barracks settlements in connection with the construction of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant , which went into operation in 1964 and is therefore one of the oldest nuclear power plants in Russia. In 1987 Novovoronezh received city status. In the meantime, the Nowoworonesch II nuclear power plant is being built as the second two-block nuclear power plant.

economy
Most of the residents of Novovoronezh are employed in the power plant or in related operations, the power plant being not only an electricity supplier, but also an important district heating supplier. Other businesses in the city include factories in the building materials and food industries.
