Ertil ( Russian Эртиль ) is a city in the Voronezh Oblast ( Russia ) with 11,387 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the central part of the Oka-Don plain about 225 km east of the oblast capital Voronezh on the Ertil of the same name (also Great Ertil , Bolshaya Ertil ), a tributary of the Bitjug, which flows into the Don .
Ertil is the administrative center of the Rajons of the same name .
The town is the terminus of a 30-kilometer branch line (only freight), which at the station Oborona from the railway gryazi - Volgograd branches.
history
Ertil was established in 1897 in connection with the construction of a sugar factory at the Ertilskaja step ( Ertil steppe ) estate of Count AF Orlov. In 1963 city rights were granted.

Culture and sights
The city has a local museum. A dendrological park extends around the former count's country estate .

In addition to the sugar factory, there are other companies in the food industry and smaller companies that manufacture equipment.
