Buturlinowka ( Russian Бутурлиновка ) is a city in the Voronezh Oblast ( Russia ) with 27,208 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the northern edge of the Kalatscher Heights about 240 km southeast of the Oblast capital Voronezh on the upper reaches of the Ossered , a left tributary of the Don .
Buturlinowka is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
The city is located on the Talovaya railway line, opened in 1896 (on the Kharkiv - Balashov - Penza route ) - Kalach (today only goods traffic), from which a line to Pavlovsk branches off here.
history
The place was founded around 1740 when Tsarina Jelisaveta Petrovna donated the surrounding lands to Field Marshal Alexander Buturlin , after whom the place was named. In the 19th century the place was an important handicraft center.
City charter was granted in 1917.

In Buturlinowka the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ ( Преображенский собор / Preobrazhensky sobor) from the 19th century has been preserved.
