Keteleeria fortunei is a species of plant in the genus Keteleeria fromthe pine family (Pinaceae).
distribution
This tree species is native to North Vietnam and China in the provinces of Fujian , Guangdong , Guangxi , Guizhou , Hunan , Jiangxi , Yunnan and Zhejiang . The deposits are at altitudes between 200 and 1,400 meters.
description
Keteleeria fortunei is an evergreen tree that can grow to heights of 25 to 30 meters with trunk diameters of up to 1 m. It forms a pyramidal crown with horizontally protruding branches. The bark is dark gray and furrowed vertically. The bark of the young twigs is orange and hairy; in the second to third year they turn yellow-gray to yellow-brown. The needles are 1.2 to 3 cm long and about 2 to 4 mm wide; they are dark green on top and pale green on the underside. The cones are cylindrical in shape and stand upright on the branch. The cones are 6 to 18 cm long and 3 to 5 cm wide; after opening, they are up to 7.5 cm wide. The seeds are about 2 cm long with a 3 cm wing.

Keteleeria fortunei is planted as a park tree in warm locations. The wood is used as construction timber and for furniture.
Naming
Keteleeria fortunei is named after the Scottish botanist Robert Fortune , who discovered the tree in 1844 .
