Kevin Burleson (born April 9, 1979 in Seattle , Washington ) is a retired American basketball player. Burleson is 1.91 m tall and played both the point guard and shooting guard positions .
Career
Burleson, whose father Alvin was a professional in American football in the Canadian Football League and the United States Football League , went to study at the University of Minnesota in 1998 , for whose college team Golden Gophers he played in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA from 1999 . Their team had previously been canceled the results of the last six years due to violations of the NCAA regulations. As a result, the Gophers reached three more episodes from 2001 to the National Invitation Tournament , in which they finished fourth in 2003.
Burleson then began a professional career in 2003 and signed a contract with the German club USC Heidelberg in the 2nd basketball division . For the following season he got a contract with the German first division club WALTER Tigers from Tübingen in the basketball Bundesliga 2004/05 . In the summer break of 2005, he managed to make the leap into the highest-endowed professional league NBA . He signed a one-year contract with the Charlotte Bobcats for the 2005/06 season . At the beginning of the following 2006/07 season, however, he was released from his contract and then committed by the " farm team " Fort Worth Flyers in the NBA Development League (D-League). Then Burleson moved back to Europe for the 2007/08 season, where he played in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for the team from Mersin . After a season he returned to the D-League and played for the Idaho Stampede, but where again no opportunity opened up to him to return to the NBA. In the 2009/10 season he played again in Romania for the national CSU Asesoft in Ploieşti , which was able to defend his title in 2010. Burleson was then no longer professionally active.
