Kevin Curtis DeeVon (* 17th July 1978 in Murray , Utah ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of wide receiver . He played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight years and is also known by his nickname "White Lightning".

High school

Curtis attended Bingham High School in South Jordan , Utah. In American football, Curtis became an all-region as a wide receiver and as a defensive back .

Curtis is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . After high school, he served a mission in London for two years .

college

Curtis began his career in college football at Snow College , where he was second team All-American . He then moved to Utah State University .

As a junior, Curtis had the most trapped passports in the United States, making him the third-team All-America . Curtis also broke several Utah State season records, such as most trapped passes (100), most trapped yards (1,531), most games with ten or more trapped passes (six), most games trapped for 100 yards (nine) and most consecutive games with trapped passes for 100 yards (six). He was named his team's offensive MVP . His outstanding games in his junior year earned him a senior year scholarship. In his senior year, he had the seventh most yards per game in the United States (114.36) and he had caught the twelfth most passes per game (6.73). He also led the Aggies with 74 passports captured. This was the fifth best season performance in Utah State's history, scoring 1258 yards (fifth best in a season) and 60 points while catching an average of 117.4 yards per game.

After just two years at Utah State, he retired from college while leading in many statistics. Among other things, he caught the most passes in his career (174), scored the most passing yards per game in his career (126.8), caught the most passes per game (7.9) and was second best in captured yards in his Careers (2789). He was teammate from what would later become the Washington Redskins tight end , Chris Cooley .

Professional career

In the NFL Combine , Curtis ran a time of 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard sprint , but he is usually listed with 4.21 seconds. He also achieved 48 out of 50 possible points in the Wonderlic test . This was the highest number an NFL player had at the time.

St. Louis Rams

He was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the 3rd round (74th player) in the NFL Draft . In 2004 Curtis missed just one game, catching 32 passes for 421 yards and two touchdowns . He had his first 100-yard game on October 30, 2005 against the Jacksonville Jaguars when he replaced starter Torry Holt . Curtis finished the game at 105 yards. In 2006 Curtis was the third wide receiver behind Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt.

Philadelphia Eagles

On March 15, 2007, Curtis signed a six-year $ 32 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles that guaranteed him $ 9.5 million. Until then, Curtis had spent his career behind potential Hall of Fame candidates Bruce and Holt. Now he stepped out of their shadows and caught 77 passes for 1,110 yards and six touchdowns in his first year with the Eagles.

Curtis had his best game on September 23, 2007 in the first half of the Eagles' 56:21 victory over the Detroit Lions . His nine trapped passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns set Lee Evans ' record as the wide receiver with the most trapped yards in a half since 1987 (when Steve Largent caught passes for 224 yards). However, this is in a replacement game . Curtis ended the day with 11 passes caught for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2008 Curtis only played nine games due to an injury. Against the Cleveland Browns , Curtis caught four balls for 45 yards and a touchdown. During the season, Curtis caught 33 balls for 390 yards and two touchdowns.

In the 2009 season, Kevin Curtis missed twelve games due to an operation on his knee.

Miami Dolphins

Kevin Curtis was released from his contract on March 18, 2010 by the Philadelphia Eagles. He moved on December 13, 2010 to the Miami Dolphins , which brought him in the season in two games and on December 28, 2010 released again. in the following season he tried in vain with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans to get into the team.
