Kevin Otto (* in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American actor .

Life

Otto grew up in his native New Orleans. He first appeared in the mid-1980s (1985-1986) in New Orleans as a singer in a band called Reality Patio , before he turned to acting.

He went to New York City , where he completed his acting training at the William Esper Studio. He then worked as a commercial actor, for television, as a voice over speaker and occasionally in the theater; eventually film roles were added.

Otto has been working as an actor for film and television since the late 1980s. He was often used as a "supporting actor" in larger productions. However, he has had numerous leading roles, mostly in television films. Otto worked in the United States, Canada, South Africa, France, and also for some German productions.

In 1996 Otto played the leading role in the erotic thriller Dark Desires - Fanette , an American-French co-production that was part of a film series with erotic films . He played Paul, a husband who, together with his wife Mathilde, blackmailed the women he slept with. In 1998 he played the role of the easy-going lawyer and playboy Denny Montana in the television film Diamond Girl , a Canadian-South African production, who is more interested in women than his professional legal work. In the romantic South African television film Lost Souls (2000), Otto played a successful businessman who became an alcoholic after he found out that his wife was cheating on him and who only found his way back to life through the love of a waitress.

In the romantic comedy Song of Songs (2002) he played the male lead. He embodied Josh, the roommate and the great love of the musician and singer Jolene ( Kiki Teague ). In the science fiction thriller Slipstream (2005) he was FBI agent Jake Hallman at the side of Ivana Milicevic . In the feature film Free Willy 4 - Rescue from the Pirate Bay (2010) Otto played the veterinarian Dr. Sam Cooper.

He also had episode roles and guest roles on the television series Sindbad's Adventure (1998), Providence (1999), Sunset Beach (1999), Angel (2001), Tremors (2003), Hunter (2004), SAF3 (2013; as Dr. Natterson), Dominion (2014; as Angel Louis) and Homeland (2014). He has also appeared in several History Channel documentaries .

Since 2011 Otto has appeared several times in supporting roles in German TV productions that are set in Africa or South Africa. He played for ZDF in Verschollen am Kap (2011; alongside Barbara Auer and Heino Ferch ) and since 2012 the continuous role of aircraft mechanic Günther in the television films Johanna and the Buschpilot - The Way to Africa (2012; alongside Julia Brendler and Kai Schumann ) , Johanna and the Buschpilot - The Legend of the Cranes (2012; with Brendler / Schumann) and in the sequels Jana and the Buschpilot - Dispute of the Tribes (2015; with Eva-Maria Grein from Friedl and Kai Schumann) and Jana and the Buschpilot - Lonely decision (2015; with Grein von Friedl / Schumann). In the Sat.1 television film Super-Dad (2015) he played the role of Dr. König, at the side of Stephan Luca . Otto is always synchronized for these roles; he cannot be heard in his original voice. His German voice actors are u. a. Pierre Peters-Arnolds and Frank Röth .

Otto has lived in Cape Town for many years .
