Kevin Stöger (born August 27, 1993 in Steyr ) is an Austrian football player . He acts in the playmaker's position. Kevin is the brother of Pascal Stöger .
Career
society
Stöger started playing football at ATSV Steyr at the age of three. In January 2007 he joined the youth team at SV Ried . In 2009 he went to the youth training center of VfB Stuttgart . On January 22nd, 2011 Stöger made his professional debut for the second team of VfB Stuttgart in the 3rd professional league in a catch-up game on the 19th match day of the 2010/11 season against FC Carl Zeiss Jena .
For the 2012/13 season Kevin Stöger moved up to the Bundesliga squad of VfB Stuttgart. He made his competitive debut for the first team of VfB on October 31, 2012 in the second round of the 2012/13 DFB Cup in a 3-0 home win against FC St. Pauli .
On July 1, 2013, Stöger was loaned to 1. FC Kaiserslautern by the Stuttgart team until the end of June 2015 without a purchase option . After the two-year loan deal ended, he moved to SC Paderborn 07 on August 26, 2015 .
After relegation with Paderborn, Stöger moved to VfL Bochum for the 2016/17 season . There he has now advanced to the “climber of the season”. “He's our driver, our midfield engine,” said his Austrian compatriot in the VfL team, Lukas Hinterseer .
On May 28, 2018, he signed a contract with Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf until 2020. After Düsseldorf's relegation from the Bundesliga and his contract end at the same time, he left the club after the 2019/20 season after 42 Bundesliga appearances.
National team
Stöger played for the U-16, U-17 and U-18 national teams of Austria . At the age of 17, Stöger took part in the 2011 U-20 World Cup. Between 2012 and 2014 he played for the U-21 team .
In March 2019, he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time to replace the sick Michael Gregoritsch .
