Kevin Alvin Willis (born September 6, 1962 in Los Angeles , California ) is a retired American basketball player who was active all his professional career in the NBA . In 2007, he became the second oldest player ever to be used in an NBA game.

Career

Willis played for Jackson Community College in Jackson County , Michigan and Michigan State University prior to his NBA career . In the 1984 NBA Draft , he was selected eleventh by the Atlanta Hawks . He played nine full seasons and two additional games of another season with the Hawks, with whom he often moved into the NBA playoffs. During this time he formed one of the best forward duos in the league with Dominique Wilkins . In 1992 he was named to the NBA All-Star Game . He achieved career bests to date with 18.3 points and 15.5 rebounds per game.

In 1994 Willis moved to the Miami Heat . He later got through the Golden State Warriors , Houston Rockets , Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs , with whom he won the championship in 2002/03 . In 2004 he moved back to the Atlanta Hawks, for which he was active for a season.

After he then played for two years with no NBA club, Willis signed on April 2, 2007 a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks . He was used in five games for the Mavericks and since then, at 44 years and 224 days, is the second oldest player to have ever played an NBA game.

Willis is one of 15 players who have accumulated over 16,000 points and 11,000 rebounds in their NBA career . He was nominated for the Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 1992 and was the San Antonio Spurs NBA Champion in the 2002–03 season .
