Kewaunee lies at 44 ° 28 'north latitude and 87 ° 31' west longitude, extends over 10.9 km² (9.0 km² of which is land area) at an altitude of 204 meters above sea level. The city is located on Lake Michigan .

The Wisconsin Highway 29 joins the city center, coming from the west, into the Wisconsin Highway 42, which runs through the city in a north-south direction.

The city was connected to the route network of the "Kewaunee, Green Bay and Western Railroad". The route has been closed and is used as the Ahnapee State Trail .

The Austin Straubel International Airport is 55 kilometers west of the city.

The nearest larger cities are Green Bay (approx. 45 km west), Appleton (approx. 85 km southwest) and Sheboygan (approx. 90 km south). Madison , the capital of the state, is approx. 250 km southwest and Chicago , the next megacity , approx. 310 km south.

The railway line of the Green Bay and Western Railroad from Green Bay to Kewaunee is now partly a bike and hiking trail (Ahnapee State Trail).
