Khaleej Times Trophy 2001/02
The Khaleej Times Trophy 2001/02 was a three-nation tournament that was held from October 26 to November 4, 2001 in the United Arab Emirates in one-day cricket . In which the international cricket season 2001/02 belonging tournament took teams from Pakistan , Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in part. In the final, Pakistan was able to prevail against Sri Lanka with 5 wickets.
prehistory
Zimbabwe previously played a tour against England , Pakistan and Sri Lanka played games in the 2001/02 Asian Test Championship against Bangladesh . The tournament took place in the wake of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the beginning of the war in Afghanistan . As a result, the security precautions were tightened.
format
In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were four points for a win, two points for a draw or no result. Bonus points were also awarded. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
