Kidnapped - Deadly Swamp is an American thriller from 2000 directed by Lee Stanley and starring Dennis Hopper . It is based on the novel Ransom by Lois Duncan .

The driver of a school bus is killed, JD pretends to be his substitute. Five high school students are kidnapped by JD, his girlfriend Rita, and another accomplice. The kidnappers demand a ransom from the wealthy parents of the young people.
The students are held in hiding in the Everglades swamps . They escape, JD is chasing them in his car. He drives his car into the swamps and is eaten by the alligators .
JD's accomplice meets with the stepfather of one of the kidnapped girls to collect money. On the way they meet one of the escaped boys who is brought back to the hut. Since JD is not there, Rita becomes hysterical. The boy lies to her that JD drowned in the swamp.
The young people discover that the stepfather is the mastermind behind the kidnapping. The kidnappers are overwhelmed and handed over to the police.
