Kiefer Sherwood (born March 31, 1995 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Anaheim Ducks in the National Hockey League since March 2018 and for their farm team, the San Diego Gulls , in the American Hockey League is used.

Career

Kiefer Sherwood was born in Columbus and played for the Ohio Blue Jackets in his youth . During the 2012/13 season he moved to the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest junior league in the country, while at the same time he completed some assignments for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , in whose selections he himself however could not establish. In the Phantoms' jersey, the winger established himself as a regular scorer, recording 56 points in 60 games in the 2014/15 season, without being considered in an NHL Entry Draft . He then enrolled in his native Ohio at Miami University , for whose RedHawks he henceforth participated in the game operations of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), a league of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The attacker also confirmed his achievements from the junior division at college, with 38 scorer points from 36 games in the 2016/17 season, an average of over 1.0.

As a result, Sherwood signed an entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks in March 2018 , who used him in the American Hockey League (AHL) with their farm team , the San Diego Gulls , until the end of the season . In the pre-season that followed, the American won a place in the Ducks squad, so he made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in October 2018 .
