KISI - God's singing kids
KISI - God's singing kids (KISI for short, formerly KISI-Kids) is an international group of children, young people and adults who pass on their faith through songs and musicals . KISI is a Catholic movement with an ecumenical mandate.
Emergence
The pastoral assistants Birgit and Hannes Minichmayr founded the "Children's Singing Group of the Parish Altmünster am Traunsee " in 1993 . They tried to pass on the gospel of Jesus Christ through song and dance . The first musical performance took place in December and the first concert tour in Upper Austria in 1995 . In 1997 Birgit Minichmayr translated the musical Hark The Herald Angel with the German title Eine himmlische Aufregung . In 1998 the first KISI festival with 150 participants took place in the Altmünster secondary school, which has been held annually at Whitsun since then and in 2004 reached over 1000 participants for the first time. In December 1997 the association "KISI - God's singing kids" was founded, which has since acted as a sponsor for all productions. Birgit Minichmayr's first musical, Lilli and the unbelievable comeback , was created in 1999.
14 CDs were produced from 2000 to 2006 . In 2005 workshops were held in the Holy Land , in Brussels and in Zagreb . The musical Future Stars , commissioned and in collaboration with the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross (Kreuzschwestern Linz ) was created in 2006. In October 2007 the first tour took place in the Netherlands and Belgium and in December a workshop in Brussels.
After 23 children from the Netherlands visited Traunkirchen in 2008 and rehearsed the musical Der Barmherzige Vater in Dutch , the Dutch branch of KISI-Kids was born.
In August 2008 the Austrian Bishops' Conference gave a commendation and recommendation in the sense of can. 299 § 2 CIC . Since spring 2009 KISI has had a weekly LIVE radio broadcast on Radio Maria Austria . The musical Paulus was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Vienna . The premiere took place in Vienna on Stephansplatz as part of the Pope's visit in 2009. In December, the musical A Heavenly Excitement was performed in both Arabic and English in Bethlehem .
At the beginning of 2011, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn appointed Michael Scharf as spiritual guide of KISI.
In Uganda , at the New Dawn Conference in Mbarara, the theme “The Merciful Father” was dealt with and performed. At the invitation of the Catholic theological faculty of the Erfurt University of Education , KISI undertook the first tour in the area of the former GDR as part of a seminar .
In June 2012, KISI was the Austrian contribution to the 50th World Eucharistic Congress in Dublin and performed the musical Paulus.
