The Kitoi ( Russian Китой ; Buryat. Хути) is a left tributary of the Angara in the Republic of Buryatia and Irkutsk Oblast in southern Siberia .

The Kitoi has its origin in the Eastern Sayan . It is created there by the confluence of the two 20 km long rivers Samarta and Urda-Ulsyta . The Kitoi flows through the mountains in an easterly direction and flows into the Angara after 316 km at Angarsk . The river drains an area of ​​9190 km² and has an average discharge of about 118 m³ / s at the mouth. Maximum discharge of 2340 m³ / s has already been measured at the mouth. The river is frozen between the second half of October and the end of April. At river kilometer 78 the largest tributary of the Kitoi, the Toisuk , flows from the right.
