Kitty, Daisy & Lewis is a British three-piece band consisting of the siblings Kitty, Daisy and Lewis Durham. The band's music is inspired by R'n'B , swing , blues , country and rock'n'roll of the 1940s and 1950s. All three siblings are multi-instrumentalists and play among other things. a. Drums , guitar , ukulele , double bass , trombone , accordion or harmonica .

history

Influenced by the musical taste of their parents Ingrid Weiss (ex-drummer with The Raincoats ) and Graeme Durham, the entire family made music in their own house in London 's Kentish Town . In 2002 there were first joint appearances in local clubs. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis were teenagers at the time. On stage, the trio accompanied their mother Ingrid Weiss on double bass and their father Graeme Durham on guitar, while Kitty, Daisy & Lewis took turns on the other instruments and also on the microphone.

In 2005 and 2006 the first singles were released on the small label "Sunday Best": "Honolulu Rock and Roll" and "Mean Son Of A Gun". The singles were produced in their own home studio. Only devices from the 1940s and 1950s were used as recording equipment. The vinyl single masters were made by Lewis Durham.

National and later international appearances followed, including with Razorlight , The Pipettes , Mika , Coldplay and The Concretes . In 2006 they played at the Bestival and then twice at the Glastonbury Festival .

In 2007 the sampler "AZ of Kitty, Daisy & Lewis: The Roots of Rock'n'Roll" was released, which contains music put together by the band and has already been very well received by the critics. In 2008, the first, self-titled album "Kitty, Daisy & Lewis" was released, which was similarly well received. Like the first singles, the album was recorded using historical technology. The second studio album, Smoking In Heaven, was released in spring 2011. Unlike its predecessor, it only contained original compositions. In a review, the Frankfurter Rundschau stated that the second album also had an unmistakable retro note and found that the presentation of its own pieces "actually hardly makes an audible difference."

In 2012 Kitty, Daisy & Lewis worked together with the German country rock band " The BossHoss " on the song "Run Run Run." The song was released on The BossHoss' album "Liberty of Action (Black Edition)". Their third studio album, released in early 2015, is simply called The Third . The critic of the standard considers the twelve pieces to be very suitable for format radio. The fourth album Superscope was released in autumn 2017.
