Klaus-Dieter Ertler

Klaus-Dieter Ertler (born November 20, 1954 in Feldbach ) is an Austrian Romanist .

Live and act

Ertler passed the teaching examination at the Pedagogical Academy in Eisenstadt in 1976 for the subjects German and geography / economics. After studying Romance studies and comparative literature at the Universities of Graz, Rouen, Bordeaux, Paris, Santander and Montréal, he was awarded a master's degree for teaching French and Spanish in 1983. Two years later, Ertler received his doctorate in French and Spanish literary studies in Graz. After post-doctoral studies at the Universities of Montréal and Paris III in 1986/87, he received his habilitation in 1999 at the University of Graz .

After substitute professorships in Heidelberg (2000–2002), Aachen (2002–2003) and Kassel (2003–2004), he was appointed to the University of Graz.

Ertler's research interests include French-Canadian literature and Spanish Enlightenment literature , especially press products.

Ertler served as President of the Society for Canada Studies from 2007 to 2009.
